"Overdressed", Giles/Xander, FRT
You can blame this one on [info]antennapedia, too. She gave me the first two sentences as a prompt.

"You're overdressed. Seriously overdressed."

Giles's dubious look was mostly pro forma, Xander knew. It was just as much an act as the neatly pressed pants--excuse me, *trousers*--and the tweed jacket and the slightly rumpled collar of the oxford shirt. The interesting question, of course, was why Giles was putting on that particular act, right now, when they were supposed to be going to a party. A party at which actual gay people, actual *other* gay people, you could say, were supposed to be present.

"Well, what would you suggest?" Giles looked down at his ensemble and up at Xander, eyes mild. "It's not as if I put on evening dress."

Xander had a brief flash of Giles in a sequined gown. Not red, maybe deep green or blue. Never mind. "It's a casual party, Ru. You wanna look... casual. Not like you're ready to do battle with ancient Sumerian manuscripts."

Xander started with the jacket. It felt even scratchier than most of Rupert's tweed. He hung it on the coat-tree for the moment, then got working on the tie. Giles could tie a half-windsor knot tighter than any man alive, Xander would swear it. He gave a little grunt of triumph as it finally gave way and he pulled the tie out of the shirt collar. It got tossed on the nearest chair.

"Okay," he said, as much to himself as to Rupert. "That's a start." He attacked Rupert's shirt and unbuttoned the top few buttons. "What--you wore an undershirt in this weather?"

Xander did up one button again and then went for the shirt cuffs. Cufflinks! Sometimes he really despaired of Rupert (and he never used to say or even think stuff like "despaired of" before he moved in with a sexy old English dude). He kept hanging on to that old Clark Kent as librarian persona when he was totally Superman underneath.

"I'm sorry, man, but the shirt is gonna hafta go." He peeled it off his lover, not missing the strong whiff of Rupert that came with it--sandalwood soap, bay rum, a hint of healthy sweat. Then he started to pull Rupert's undershirt out of his trousers and realized it would be much easier if he undid the trousers first.

Xander actually had the undershirt off, leaving Giles's hair in one big floof, before he noticed that Giles's trousers were around his knees, and there were no *pants* under those trousers... just one big happy--

Xander dropped to his knees and got with the program.

Later, after they'd made it to the bed and the lube and all the accessories, Xander turned to his lover and said, "You didn't really wanna go to that party anyway, did you?"

"I suppose not. You?"

"Nah."
